The Canadian Cryospheric Information Network (CCIN) has been developed through a collaborative partnership between the Federal Government (Canadian Space Agency, Meteorological Service of Canada, Natural Resources Canada), Dr. Ellsworth LeDrew at the University of Waterloo and the private sector (Noetix Research Inc.) over the past decade to provide the data and information management infrastructure for the Canadian cryospheric community. The main objective of the CCIN is to enhance awareness and access to Canadian cryospheric information and related data. - April 2011: The new International Polar Year data upload capability is operational! Please contact your IPY Data Assembly Centre Network coordinator for assistance in uploading your IPY datasets.
- August 2010: Over 7,000 images of the RADARSAT-1 Polar Science Dataset from the Canadian Space Agency are now available for searching and download on the PDC.
| The State of the Canadian Cryosphere provides information on the past, present and future state of important cryospheric variables in Canada. See the latest state of snow, sea ice, lake ice, glaciers and ice caps, frozen ground and permafrost across Canada and its surrounding regions.
The Polar Data Catalogue (PDC) is an online database of metadata that describes, indexes and provides access points to diverse data sets generated by Arctic and Antarctic researchers. The records are in an international format (FGDC) to allow exchange among databases, and they cover a wide range of disciplines, from natural sciences to policy to health and social sciences. This section is designed to educate kids all about the cryosphere. We have lots of fun stuff like games for you to play. Enjoy! Photo GalleryWelcome to the new photo gallery!
